Joe is a Licensed Master Social Worker (LMSW).  Joe obtained a Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology from the University of Michigan – Dearborn and graduated with distinction and Psychology Honors.  He obtained a Master's of Social Work Degree from Wayne State University.  Joe has experience working in a residential setting for children struggling with behavioral issues, has been a clinical therapist at a Community Mental Health agency in Detroit where he worked with foster children and adopted children, as well as with the general population, and also an outpatient therapist at a large outpatient clinic where he was a member of the Peer Utilization Review Committee and the Executive Committee.

Joe specializes in the treatment of anger and behavior disorders (e.g., Oppositional Defiant Disorder, Attention-Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder), however he has many years experience working with anxiety disorders, mood disorders, Obsessive Compulsive Disorder, and Post Traumatic Stress Disorder and other trauma related symptoms.

Joe has been a member of the National Association of Social Workers since 2007 and was previously a Member-At-Large on the Executive Board of the Troy Community Coalition.  

​

Joe is passionate about teaching and providing the next generation of therapists the opportunities they need to grow into their practice.  Joe works directly with all of Lillybrook's therapists and enjoys providing them with clinical supervision and support.  Though Joe does not have the capacity for new clients on his own caseload, Joe is excited to continue to serve all clients through his leadership and supervision of staff.

When not at work, Joe enjoys being a husband and father.  Joe is an avid sports enthusiast and die-hard fan of the University of Michigan and Detroit Red Wings.  Joe also enjoys an eclectic taste in music and enjoys playing the guitar.
